Catnip – Bringing the outdoors in
Catnip contains a chemical compound called nepetalactone, which attracts and affects cats in various ways.
The experience cats will have with Catnip is first by smell, the plant contains certainly aromatic oils that a cat inhales with the special receptor on their nose.
This receptor is linked to the region of the brain that controls behaviour, and mostly has a positive or calming effect on cats. Whilst its name suggests its just for cats, catnip is a great herbal remedy to calm anxious cats or dogs or to train good behaviours.
